4 My Travels is an open-source expense tracker with end-to-end encryption. Log expenses in any currency, see live conversions, and keep every receipt on your device. No ads, no tracking, no account required for local use.
Google Play and App Store releases are under consideration for a later phase.
End-to-end encrypted
Your data stays yours
A focused expense tracker that does the essentials well. No bloat, no feature creep, no surprises.
165+ currencies via the open-source Frankfurter API. Rates cached locally for offline use. Every expense stores its own rate snapshot so conversions stay auditable.
Works with zero network. Sync is optional and arrives later.
SQLCipher on Android, SQLite3MC on web. Receipts stored as encrypted blobs.
See if you are spending ahead or behind before the trip ends. Daily pace compares cumulative actual spend against expected spend at the current day. Supports open-ended trips and multi-day splits.
Privacy & open source
The client app is licensed GPL-3.0 and fully auditable. When cloud sync arrives, encryption happens on your device with a key derived from your passphrase. The server stores only ciphertext and cannot read your data.
# Encrypted backup file structure
manifest.json → schema version, app version
payload.db → AES-256 encrypted SQLite
receipts/ → compressed, encrypted blobs
# Key derived via Argon2id
# Passphrase never leaves your device
The spend collector is just the start. Here is what is on the roadmap.
v1.2
Encrypted backup to the server (paid add-on) with account-based sign-in. The structural safety net for PWA users.
v1.3
Live encrypted sync across devices, plus inviting friends to a shared trip. Creating requires a paid plan; invitees join free.
v2.0
Log flights, track distances, see your carbon footprint add up.
v2.1
Mark countries visited, track UNESCO sites, build your travel map.
Use the web app on any device — no install needed — or download the Android APK from GitHub.
